Google was founded in a garage
Two research students at Stanford incorporated a company to run a search engine they had built as a side project. At that point most people who used the internet at all were using AltaVista, Lycos or Yahoo, and finding anything was mostly luck.
Within a decade the company's name was a verb. If you are reading this page, there is a fair chance it is because of something that started that day.
