Richard III was killed at the Battle of Bosworth

The last English king to die in battle fell at Bosworth Field in Leicestershire, and Henry Tudor was crowned in his place. It brought the Wars of the Roses to an effective close and put the Tudors on the throne for the next hundred and eighteen years.

Richard's remains were finally found under a council car park in Leicester in 2012 and reburied in the cathedral — which is a very British ending to a very British story.
